Financial Resources

I have enjoyed reading and learning about financial independence, career advice and personal growth for many years. My inspiration to pursue financial independence in my life (I am currently almost halfway there) has been fueled by the awesome resources that are out there. Here are a few of my favorites:

Financial Blogs/Websites

Financial Samurai – This site is a great resource for almost any deep financial topic, including investing, real estate, insurance and financial independence. It is frequently updated with fresh, detailed content. I am on this site at least three times a week!

Mr. Money Mustache – One of the most famous FIRE sites ever. I have read just about everything on this site and in addition to great advice about financial independence, it dives into frugal living, self-reliance and personal growth. This blog has taught me a ton beyond just money topics. It is also very cleverly written and entertaining!

Frugalwoods – I started reading this blog about six years ago and have been hooked ever since. Great advice on living simply, being content, saving money and pursuing a life of meaning. Lots of reader case studies which makes the blog very personal.

Budgets Are Sexy – A great site where you can follow a journey towards financial independence. Really well written articles on a myriad of money topics and frequent updates!

5 AM Joel – Joel gets up every day at 5 AM! His site is full of great reads that are highly motivational and inspiring! I recommend signing up for his daily e-mail for a nugget of inspiration in your inbox each morning! Great way to start your day!

Books

One From Many by Dee Hock – Tells the story of the formation of Visa. Great read for anybody that is fascinated by organizations and management in an ever changing world.

Crucial Conversations by Joseph Grenny, Kerry Patterson, Ron McMillan, Al Switzler and Emily Gregory – Awesome book that gives tools into how to talk to people, especially for particularly important or difficult conversations!

Financial Tools

Personal Capital – A great tool that I use to track my net worth and spending. You link all your financial accounts to this site and it automatically pulls together all your financial information into one clean interface. Super useful if you are looking to grow your net worth or get a handle on where your money is going each month!

Credit Karma – Offers free credit reports which can help you if you are working to dig your way out of debt on the road to financial independence. Recommendations on credit cards or loans that may have more favorable terms than what you are currently paying.
